This is why You will Love the Provo River Parkway Trail

Exercise is a necessary part of a healthy lifestyle, but it’s not always the most enjoyable. Crowded gyms, the treadmill in your basement, and too many repetitions on your neighborhood running route can put a serious damper on a good workout. In Provo, however, that’s not a problem, thanks to all the local trails, parks, and mountains of Utah County. The next time you want to break a sweat or need a breath of fresh air, head to the Provo River Parkway Trail, and enjoy 15 miles of Utah scenery. By shoes or wheels, it's one of the best ways to see Provo!

The Provo River Parkway Trail

The Provo River Parkway Trail starts at Utah Lake State Park in the western part of Provo and follows the Provo River to Vivian Park in Provo Canyon. Take it section by section, or tackle the whole trail at once!

The trail runs through Provo, and according to the City of Provo’s website, is easily accessible, most commonly at the Geneva Rd Trailhead or the Lakeshore Trailhead.

One of the best (and most obvious) features of the trail is that it’s paved. Rollerblading and biking are two of most popular activities on the trail. No rough terrain here - just a smooth, paved, trail, ideal for taking kids out on a bike ride, or training for your next 5k race. Plus, who doesn’t want to enjoy a beautiful day on an easy trail, surrounded by Utah beauty?

More Provo Adventures Nearby!

The Provo River Parkway Trail is a great way to explore Provo, but it’s not the only one! Here are a few exciting nearby activities:

Provo River Tubing

The Provo River is as fun as it is beautiful, and the best way to see it is tubing. There are several local companies that offer tube rentals on Provo River, like Runoff River Adventures. It’s a perfect choice for your next family or group outing!

Provo Canyon

The Provo River Parkway Trail might come to an end in Provo Canyon, but from there, the adventure only just begins. Access to multiple hiking trails can be found in the canyon, including the trek to Mount Timpanogos. One of Utah’s most popular climbs, Timpanogos stands nearly 12,000 feet tall and offers unbeatable views from the top. Not an avid hiker? Provo Canyon parks offer recreation for everyone.  Canyon Glen Park and Nunns Park, for example, are perfect places to relax. Canyon Glen Park has an amphitheatre and volleyball court (among many other things), and Nunns Park offers camping, fishing, biking, and more. Read our blog for more information!
